North Carolina 4-H is proud to announce another successful district presentation season! Throughout June, 4-H members from across the state gathered in each of the five Extension districts to showcase their knowledge and communication skills.
As part of the 4-H Presentation Program, District Activity Days provide youth with opportunities to demonstrate what they have learned through demonstrations, public speaking, and outdoor cookery competitions at the district level. Additionally, members take the stage through 4-H Entertains, putting their talents and creativity on display.
Although these competitive opportunities are open to 4-H members ages 8–18, Cloverbuds (ages 5–7) also participate through their own non-competitive presentation category, where they can have fun sharing their interests and building confidence alongside other youngsters.
These events exemplify the 4-H slogan, "Learn by Doing," by providing youth with opportunities to apply their skills, share their knowledge, and demonstrate what they have learned through hands-on experiences. In doing so, participants continue developing the skills and confidence that help make them Beyond Ready for future success.
Thousands of hours of preparation and practice culminated in this year's district events, which welcomed 709 youth participants across all five districts:
- West District – 77 participants
- North Central District – 107 participants
- South Central District – 170 participants
- Northeast District – 179 participants
- Southeast District – 176 participants
Congratulations to all of this year's participants! Getting up in front of an audience isn't easy, making the dedication demonstrated by these 4-H members especially impressive.
Presenters who were awarded gold or silver at the district level have the opportunity to advance to State Presentation Finals, held on July 21 during 4-H Congress, where they will compete against fellow 4-H'ers from across the state.
