On March 25, 2026, NC State University will celebrate its annual Day of Giving, when alumni, students, families, faculty, staff, and friends come together to support programs across the university.
This year’s theme, “Make Your Mark,” encourages the Wolfpack community to reflect on how NC State has shaped their lives and consider the difference they want to make for others. In many ways, it also reflects the lasting influence 4-H youth go on to have within their own communities.
For North Carolina 4-H, that influence extends into communities across the state. Day of Giving support helps strengthen programs that reach youth in all 100 counties and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, providing opportunities for young people to learn, grow, and develop skills for the future.
Each year, thousands of participants engage in 4-H experiences that encourage curiosity, problem-solving, and personal growth. Through projects, clubs, camps, and events, members explore their interests while building confidence and practical skills that carry with them into adulthood.
Research shows that youth involved in 4-H are four times more likely to make positive contributions to their communities and twice as likely to make healthier choices than their peers. Through hands-on learning, they develop life skills in areas such as leadership, civic engagement, and healthy living.
4-H also introduces members to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). In fact, 4-H members are twice as likely to participate in out-of-school science programs compared to their peers. From environmental science and agriculture to robotics and technology projects, these experiences help young people connect STEM concepts to real world challenges while strengthening creativity and critical thinking.
Through a partnership with Apple, 4-H youth learn to create apps and digital content on iOS devices, building valuable technology and STEM skills.
North Carolina 4-H operates three residential camps that provide unique learning experiences outside the traditional classroom: Millstone 4-H Camp, Betsy-Jeff Penn 4-H Center, and Eastern 4-H Center. Camp programs give youth the chance to try new activities, build friendships, and gain confidence in a fun, supportive environment. For many young people, camp becomes one of the most memorable parts of their 4-H experience, creating connections and life skills that last well beyond the summer. Ask many 4-H alumni what they remember most from their time in the program, and chances are they will mention 4-H camp.
Youth enjoy hands-on experiences and friendships at 4-H camp, where they build confidence, social skills, and lasting memories.
Support from donors also makes it possible to recognize the accomplishments of 4-H members across North Carolina. Through awards, scholarships, and leadership opportunities, young people are able to celebrate their achievements while preparing for the next steps in their education and careers. Scholarships, in particular, help many pursue higher education and continue building on the experiences they gained through 4-H.
Through 4-H Awards & Incentives programs, youth are recognized for their achievements and may receive scholarships that support their continued education and leadership development.
Gifts made during Day of Giving help keep these experiences accessible across North Carolina. Your support strengthens educational programs, provides resources for local activities, and allows young people to discover what they are capable of achieving.
Supporting 4-H is an investment in the future of North Carolina. By helping young people develop skills, confidence, and a sense of responsibility to their communities, 4-H prepares them not just to succeed, but to become Beyond Ready for the opportunities, challenges, and possibilities that lie ahead.
On March 25, supporters of North Carolina 4-H will come together to make a difference through NC State Day of Giving and the spirit of #GivingPack.
