North Carolina 4-H Adult and Alumni Awards

Each year, North Carolina 4-H recognizes exemplary individuals who have provided exceptional support to programs around our state. These supporters, partners, volunteers, and alumni are pivotal in ensuring that 4-H'ers can continue to make an impact on our state, nation, and world.

North Carolina 4-H is currently accepting 2023 Award Nominations.
The deadline to submit a nomination is October 1, 2023.

There are four (4) Adult Award categories: There are three (3) Alumni and Friends Award categories:

NC 4-H Lifetime Achievement Award


The North Carolina 4-H Lifetime Achievement Award honors up to three (3) nominees each year. Through this award, 4-H Program Staff, 4-H Alumni, and 4-H Donors are recognized for their contributions to successful program initiatives across the state.The information needed to nominate a Lifetime Achievement Award recipient is below:

  • Details regarding the nominees qualifications for the Lifetime Achievement Award. (Please focus on how this individual has made a lasting impact on the NC 4-H community.)

NC 4-H Family Legacy Award


The NC 4-H Family Legacy Award accepts nominations from multi-generational families who have made a lasting and significant impact on the North Carolina 4-H community. Through their efforts, either monetary or contributions of time, they have improved the reach of 4-H in the community they live in by participating in programs, providing support, volunteering, and networking on behalf of 4-H. The information needed to nominate a family is below:

  • Details on why this family should be considered for the award

NC 4-H Partners Award


Through a long-term relationship with NC 4-H, the Partners Award honors individuals or organizations who have provided impactful philanthropic support to the NC 4-H program. Recipients of this award can receive more than one nomination over consecutive years. This award can honor up to four (4) 4-H partners annually. Recipients of this award do not need to be 4-H alumni.The information needed to nominate a Partner is below:

NC 4-H Hall of Fame Inductee


The Hall of Fame Award recognizes 4-H volunteers, Extension professionals, staff, employees, donors, and others who have made a significant impact on the 4-H program and/or 4-H members through the contribution of time, energy, financial resources, etc. This support can be provided at the local or state level. The information needed to nominate a Hall of Fame Inductee is below:

  • Information regarding the Nominee’s impacts on 4-H across the state (Please highlight citizenship, leadership, career accomplishments, and character.)

NC 4-H Young Alumni Award


The NC 4-H Young Alumni Award is presented to a 4-H alumnus under the age of 30 who has transitioned from a 4-H member to a volunteer. Nominees should be individuals who have become actively involved as volunteers in any aspect of the 4-H program at the club, county, district, or state level.Information needed to nominate an individual for an NC 4-H Young Alumni Award is below:
  • Name and Contact information of the person submitting a nomination
  • Name and Contact information of the Nominee
  • Age of Nominee as of January 1, 2022 (must be under 30)
  • List up to three (3) key activities or events that this individual participated in that exhibited extraordinary support for the NC 4-H program following their 4-H membership.
  • What was the nominee's primary role in these activities?
  • In what other community service activities has the nominee been involved?
  • 100-word narrative statement to be used for publicity

NC 4-H Full Circle Alumni Award


The NC 4-H Full Circle Alumni Award is presented to a 4-H alumnus who gives back to the 4-H program, ideally making an impact as a volunteer at some level in the program. Successful nominees would be individuals who use the knowledge and skills they gained as a 4-H'er to give back to the 4-H program today.Information needed to nominate an individual for an NC 4-H Full Circle Alumni Award is below:
  • Name and contact information of the person submitting a nomination
  • Name and contact information of Nominee
  • List up to three key activities or events that exemplify the nominees support of NC 4-H in the years since aging out as a member and share what the nominee's primary role was in these activities.
  • In what other ways has the nominee contributed to the total NC 4-H program?
  • Please share any additional, relevant information that might be helpful to those evaluating the nominations.
  • 100-word narrative statement to be used for publicity

The NC 4-H Outstanding Citizen Alumni Award is presented to a 4-H alumnus who has used his/her knowledge and skills gained through 4-H to make an impact on the greater community.Information needed to nominate an individual for an NC 4-H Outstanding Citizen Alumni Award is below:
  • Name and contact information of the person submitting a nomination
  • Name and contact information of Nominee
  • Describe the impact that 4-H had on leadership, citizenship, or community service.
  • How has 4-H influenced the nominee in the areas of professional, civic, and/or community life?
