At Large Members, 4-H Clubs, & 4-H Groups

[(Current / Start your own) SPIN, Year Round & Seasonal]

  • 4-H Community Clubs
    Community clubs, usually meet once a month or more. Clubs must have at least 6 business meetings in a calendar year. These groups can have a variety of focus interests including but not limited to: Science, Archery, Livestock, Electricity, Woodworking, Horses, Community Service, and more! These clubs and their leaders work with the county agent for club resources, expectations and continual opportunities for their 4-H families. Contact agent to find a club or start your own!   Join Burke County 4-H 
  • 4-H SPIN Clubs
    4-H SPecial INterest club meetings are FREE. SPIN clubs last approximately for six meetings, and may vary in date/time/length. Check out our current offerings! Hope to see you soon.
  • 4-H & Extension Advisory
    4-H and Extension Advisory consists of several invited and appointed adult, youth, and community representatives to provide needs assessments, community impacts, and promote the county 4-H program as 4-H advocates. Adults serve a 3-year rotation and youth a 1+ year. Contact Nicki if this is an  opportunity you would like to participate in.
  • 4-H Horse Bowl Competition Teams
    Horse Bowl teams are chosen by county agent to meet requirements of competition: Junior and Senior levels (levels are by age- 14 is transitional age). These teams consist of 4 youth members with 1 alternate and a coach, that study and compete in a quiz bowl style competition on a county, district, state, and national level, answering questions on horses! No horse necessary to participate. Teams meet October to March (District Competition usually in February and State in March). Join the Horse Without A Horse 4-H SPIN Club to begin practicing for this event!
  • 4-H Jr. Beekeepers
    Jr. Beekeepers is offered each qualifying year to youth ages 8 & up. Youth must complete and submit an application and essay to the county agent before the Feb./Mar. deadline. New members will receive hive construction and must attend 3 of the 4 offered educational workshops. 4-H Jr. Beekeeper Alumni are encouraged and invited to always attend educational workshops.   • Members At Large
    Members at Large, are youth/families that conduct their own individual 4-H interest without committing to a single club. These members work directly with county agent and can visit numerous clubs.

  • Stitching Memories 4-H Sewing Program – Application

    Burke County 4-H is excited to present the “Stitching Memories” Sewing Program! In honor of long time Burke County 4-H’er & Volunteer, Patricia Clark (who excelled in the 4-H clothing, sewing, and wool programs), we want to offer a self-paced independent study (along with mentorship) for youth to experience the joy of sewing and gain lifelong skills. Youth will participate in a 1-year commitment, loaning all tools necessary to complete a 4-H sewing project. Youth will also receive curriculum, resources, a mentor, and occasional workshop trainings. Youth may apply multiple years to complete projects. The application can be picked up in office or found above linked to the word Application. Contact Nicki for more information.

Camp & Summer Fun

Camp: Burke County 4-H will travel to the Eastern 4-H Center on June 16-21, 2024. The costs for this week-long camp is $540 which includes transportation, lodging, meals, store money, and t-shirt. Spaces are limited. Camp families will have the opportunity to fund raise together and may be eligible for scholarships.

$50 deposit is required to secure your spot! Call our office for more information, payment options available.

School Enrichment (NC site)

4-H has a variety of curricula that have been designed to develop essential life skills in alignment with the NC Standard course of study. Along with personal learning benchmarks, the curricula align with specific objectives of grade level standards. 4-H offers training to public, private, home-school and after-school educators on the curricula and can provide materials to support the classroom lessons. Please contact the county 4-H agent to discover training and material check out options.

The Teen L.I.P. is a Burke County 4-H Agent designed youth program that utilizes teens’ strengths and abilities to lead and teach younger youth members. With great success, these teens demonstrate the job and life skills obtained while also inspiring upcoming 4-H’ers to strive to be a teen leader. Program is for youth ages 14-18. Training & Commitment is required. Jump-start for college and job prep! Email agent to sign up!

Volunteer Leaders Association
(County, District, State, and National Levels)

Caregivers, educators, and adult volunteer leaders can provide ideas, support, and unity with each other. Join this amazing group of adults on multi-level opportunities such as training, workshops, and conferences. These adults work closely with the county agent to advocate 4-H, learn & teach, and provide educational support to youth-enhancing life skills and building healthy relationships.
