Teen Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Program

The CIT Program is designed to teach leadership, programming, and communication skills to teenagers, ages 14-18. The program is a trained service-learning opportunity that is defined by community service, leadership training, behavior & conflict management, ages and stages of children, team building, and program planning. As Counselors-In-Training, teenagers will pick a minimum of two camps to volunteer. They will work with youth in an interactive atmosphere to inspire and bond with campers while going through camp activities. The training process teaches teenagers how to lead and teach effectively, interact with youth on a social level, and become overall great summer camp counselors! Participants will also become certified in First Aid and CPR as a part of the program.

NC 4-H Citizenship Focus

During 4-H Citizenship Focus in June, Union County 4-H joins teens from all over the state to participate in a three-day event where youth learn the importance of knowing local and state government by participating in facilitated civic engagement discussions and action planning. By attending conference sessions, delegates learn from leaders across the state and their peers attending the event.

NC 4-H Congress

North Carolina 4-H invites teens from all 100 counties in the state to participate in this annual leadership and education conference in Raleigh, NC. Participants attend workshops, hear from motivational speakers, and develop leadership skills through committees and campaigning. They also socialize and form friendships with others through dances, community service projects, and recreational activities. An important part of this event is to campaign and elect the incoming Strate 4-H Officers for the year.
