Suggestions/Helpful Hints:

  1. The presentation will be evaluated based on the extent to which the youth meet the presentation objectives. Judges will ask questions and complete the standard score sheet.
  2. The presentation's content and format must reflect the age and understanding of the youth making the presentation.
  3. Presentations must be factual and research-based information, not personal opinions, value judgments, or ethical/moral positions that are more suited for the Public Speaking program. Ask a health care professional to review the information for accuracy  - for controversial issues, present research facts to support both sides of the argument.
  4. Since some topics may be sensitive or uncomfortable to some audience members, the youth should announce the topic and specific emphasis at the beginning of the presentation. Allow time to leave for individuals who desire to do so.
