Seeking Volunteers for Currituck Extension Foundation Nonprofit Board of Directors

The Currituck Extension Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to supporting the charitable and educational efforts of the Currituck County Extension center and its affiliated groups, is excited to announce an open call for passionate volunteers to join our Board of Directors. Serving on the Currituck Extension Foundation Board of Directors provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and success of our organization, shaping the future of community engagement, education, and outreach.

Ideal candidates will possess a strong commitment to our mission, a passion for community service, and a willingness to dedicate their time and expertise. The Board of Directors plays a crucial role in guiding the organization’s strategic direction, ensuring financial sustainability, and fostering collaborative partnerships within the community.

Key Responsibilities of Board Members Include:

  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic plan.
  • Governance: Provide oversight and adhere to governance policies to ensure ethical and responsible management.
  • Fundraising: Actively participate in fundraising efforts to support the organization’s programs and initiatives.
  • Advocacy: Serve as an advocate for the organization, promoting its mission and values within the community.
  • Financial Oversight: Monitor the organization’s financial health and participate in budgetary decision-making.

Prospective candidates should complete the online application. Applications should be complete and submitted by January 31st. Phone interviews with potential candidates will be conducted in early February. The first board meeting of 2024 will be held on February 21st.

About Currituck Extension Foundation:

The Currituck Extension Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the charitable and educational efforts of the Currituck County Extension center and its affiliated groups in improving the quality of life through research-based education and programs for Currituck residents.

Since 2015, we have been actively involved in administering the Currituck 4-H Backpacks for kids weekend feeding program for needy elementary students in all of Currituck’s elementary schools. The organization provides scholarship support to youth and adults to participate in local, state, and national educational conferences and camps. The Currituck Extension Foundation also provides short term loans for participants in 4-H entrepreneurship programs. The organization additionally provides mini grants to staff of the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Currituck County Center to develop innovative programs that target community well-being.
