After a national search led by representatives from the NC 4-H Educational Centers Operations Team (ECOT), NC 4-H State Program Team, NC 4-H Development Fund, and NC State University Facilities, we are honored and pleased to announce Angela Brisson joined our team as Extension Assistant, NC 4-H Camping in our State 4-H Office on Tuesday, May 1, 2018.

Angela received her Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science: Natural Resource Management and Policy with a Minor in Economics from the University of North Carolina Asheville.

A native of Louisburg, NC, Angela attended 4-H camp at our own Betsy-Jeff Penn 4-H Educational Center as a youth, then served as an Environmental Education Specialist at BJP from August 2007 to December 2008 and as Assistant Director from February 2010 to December 2010.

Most recently, Angela served as the Director of Youth Engagement Programs at The Nature Conservancy in Washington, D.C., the leading conservation organization working around the world to protect ecologically important lands and waters for nature and people. As Director of Youth Engagement Programs, Angela was responsible for fundraising and principal gift donor management, corporate sponsor management; proposal and grant writing and administration; fundraising strategy development; marketing and strategic messaging/communications; promotional planning and execution; development of programs to serve youth ages 8-25 through environmental education initiatives, service learning and leadership development; and financial management of a $4+ million annual budget.

Angela brings with her a strong set of skills, including fundraising, strategic planning, diplomacy, teaching, curriculum development, youth engagement, scaling programs, coalition building, engaging across difference, program management, marketing, budgeting/finance, strategic problem-solving, writing/research, science communication, proposal/grant writing, event planning, creativity and innovation, team building, and program development.
