Health Rocks! with North Carolina 4-H

North Carolina 4-H has participated in the National 4-H Health Rocks! program for over ten years! This program is easy to use, incorporates interactive hands-on learning, meets National Health Education Standards as well as North Carolina Essential Standards.

Health Rocks! applies 4‑H’s successful Positive Youth Development model with life skill development and decision-making philosophy to the challenge of reducing tobacco, alcohol, e-cigarette/vaping and drug use. This program is designed for youth ages 8 – 14.

Current counties with Health Rocks! programming includes Alexander, Ashe, Bertie, Brunswick, Cabarrus, Carteret, Chatham, Cumberland, Durham, EBCI, Gaston, Iredell, Northampton, Onslow, Orange, Pender, Perquimans, Rockingham, Rutherford, Stokes, and Union.

Messing with the MessageThe Effects of Drugs on Your Brain I a highly-interactive activity. Through this hands-on project, youth learn how the brain sends important messages, and how drugs prevent those messages from being sent and delivered.
