Contestants will be judged on the following:

  1. Knowledge (60%)
    1. Accurate information
    2. Topic relates to assigned theme
    3. Supports Dietary Guidelines
    4. Able to answer judges’ questions correctly
    5. Subject matter relevant to current issues in food, nutrition, and health
    6. Appropriate depth
  2. Presentation Manner (30%)
    1. Neat appearance
    2. Voice(s) clear, appropriate volume, and enthusiasm
    3. Introduction: purpose clearly outlined
    4. Well paced, no long pauses
    5. Logical sequence
    6. Supplies and equipment coordinated
    7. Presentation area well organized, visible to audience
    8. Audio visuals clear and integrated well, if used
    9. Unexpected happenings handled well
    10. Theme summarized
  3. Other Criteria (10%)
    1. Audience appeal
    2. Appropriate for age level
    3. Within time limit
