Each year, five 4-H members are elected by their peers to serve as North Carolina 4-H state officers and represent 4-H members across the state. These youth leaders serve as members of the State 4-H Council, bringing the voice and perspective of 4-H members to statewide programs, events and conversations.
Throughout their year of service, the officers strengthen their own leadership while helping other young people feel represented, connected and empowered to make the most of their 4-H experience.
State 4-H officers are leaders, helping encourage involvement and strengthen connections among 4-H members across North Carolina. They are communicators, sharing the impact and opportunities of 4-H with youth, families, volunteers, partners and communities. They are representatives, participating in statewide events and engaging with audiences on behalf of North Carolina 4-H. And they are teammates, working together and alongside state 4-H staff to support a strong and connected 4-H program.

Request a State Council Member
State officers are available to represent North Carolina 4-H at events and engagement opportunities throughout the year. Organizations, partners, Extension professionals and 4-H groups may submit a request for a state officer to attend or participate in an upcoming event.
District officers may also be requested, particularly for county, club and regional events. Requests are considered based on the event, desired involvement and officer availability.
